Manage linked documents for a project item
Link existing project documents to the current item so your team can quickly open relevant files from one place.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Open the Linked Documents section
Scroll to the Linked Documents section in the project item panel to see any files that are already linked, or the message "No documents linked yet" if none are present.

Step 2: Review existing linked documents
Check the list of linked documents, including their file type, name, source, and last updated date; select a document row to reveal options such as opening it in a new tab if navigation is available.

Step 3: Add a new linked document
Select the Link a document button to open the document picker, then search or browse for the relevant document and confirm your choice so it appears in the linked list.

Step 4: Link multiple documents
When multiple linking is enabled, repeat the document selection process to add more than one file; the list updates immediately to include each new document.

Step 5: Open a linked document
Select the open or external link icon on a document row to navigate to the full document view in a separate page or tab, using the unified document viewer.

Step 6: Retry loading document details
If a document fails to load its details, use the retry icon on that row to attempt fetching the document information again without removing the link.

Step 7: Remove a linked document
Use the remove icon on a document row to unlink it from the current item; the row disappears once the change is saved, and the section shows the empty message if no documents remain.

Step 8: View read-only linked documents
In read-only views, review the list of linked documents and open them if navigation is enabled; add and remove controls are hidden so you cannot change the links from this section.
