View lifecycle status and next actions

Use the lifecycle status bar to see an item's current stage, understand any blockers or deadlines, and access the primary next action.

Steps

Step 1: Open an item with a lifecycle

Navigate to a workspace item that uses the lifecycle workflow so the lifecycle status bar appears at the top of the item view, showing the current stage name, label, and icon.

Step 2: Check the current stage and state

Read the lifecycle status bar to confirm which stage the item is in and whether it is ready, blocked, overdue, or in a terminal state, using both the text label and visual indicators.

Step 3: Review blockers and guidance

If the bar shows the item as blocked, follow the blocker link or message connected to the status bar to understand what is preventing progress and what must be resolved.

Step 4: Use the primary next action

Use the primary action button in the status bar to move the item forward when it is ready, or hover over a disabled button to hear or read the explanation for why the action is not available.

Rely on the combination of colour, text, icon, and spoken explanations from assistive technologies to understand the lifecycle status without depending on colour alone.
