Enter and update metadata field values
Use dynamic input fields to view and update metadata values such as text, numbers and dates, based on the field definition provided by your workspace.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Open the metadata panel for your item
Navigate to the item or record you want to update, then open its metadata or details panel so that the configured metadata fields are displayed.

Step 2: Enter text values in short text fields
In fields configured as short text, type your value directly into the single-line text input, using the placeholder description as guidance and staying within any maximum length that has been set.

Step 3: Add longer descriptions in multiline text fields
For fields set up as text areas, enter longer notes or descriptions into the multi-line box; the field will expand vertically to show several lines while maintaining the same style as other inputs.

Step 4: Provide numeric values where required
For number-type fields, type a numeric value into the number input; the field enforces any minimum and maximum values defined in the metadata, preventing out-of-range entries.

Step 5: Select dates for date fields
For date fields, choose the appropriate date using your browser’s date picker or by typing the date directly in the input, ensuring it matches the required format.

Step 6: Review disabled or read-only metadata
Where a field appears greyed out and cannot be changed, review the current value as a read-only reference, as disabled fields indicate metadata that cannot be edited in this context.

Step 7: Confirm your changes are captured
After updating the visible metadata fields, check that each input shows your latest entries; your changes will be passed back to the parent form or workflow for saving according to your application’s behaviour.
