Manage items in a workspace board column

Move work items between columns, understand WIP limits, and configure how each column behaves on your workspace board.

Steps

Step 1: View column details and item counts

Hover over a column header to see its name, the number of items it contains, any WIP limit, and the column description in a tooltip so you can quickly understand its purpose.

Step 2: Collapse or expand a column

Select the chevron icon in the column header to collapse or expand the column, helping you focus on the most relevant stages of your workflow.

Step 3: Drag items into the column

Drag a card from another column and drop it into this column to update the item's status; the column highlights while you drag over it and clears the highlight once you drop.

Step 4: Monitor WIP limits

Check the item count line in the column header to see how many items are in the column and whether the WIP limit has been exceeded, so you can spot overloaded stages.

Step 5: Open column configuration

Use the settings icon in the column header to open the column configuration, where you can adjust the WIP limit, hide the column, or set it to collapse by default.

Step 6: Add a quick item to the column

Use the quick-add control in the column (for example, a plus icon) to create a new item directly in this status without navigating away from the board.

Step 7: Open an item from the column

Select a card within the column to view more details or perform further actions on the individual item, such as updating its information or progressing it.
