Choose a lifecycle type for a new workspace item

Select the most appropriate lifecycle type, such as RFI, issue or change order, when creating a new workspace item so that it follows the correct workflow.

Audience

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps

Step 1: Open the lifecycle type selector

When creating or configuring a new workspace item, scroll to the lifecycle type section; the available lifecycle types are displayed as a grid of cards with icons, names and badges.

Open the lifecycle type selector

Step 2: Review the available lifecycle types

Look through the list of available lifecycle types (for example RFI, procurement, handover, issue or change order), using the icon and label on each card to understand its purpose; if no types are available, a message stating “No lifecycle types available” is shown instead.

Step 3: Select the appropriate lifecycle type

Click on the card for the lifecycle type that best matches the item you are creating; the card is highlighted to show it is selected and the system records its code for this item.

Select the appropriate lifecycle type

Step 4: Confirm the lifecycle type is not disabled

If the selector appears greyed out or cannot be clicked, the lifecycle type selection is disabled, and you may need to adjust permissions or settings before you can change it.
