Review events in the risk matrix

Use the Events Risk Matrix widget to understand how planned events are distributed by likelihood and impact across your projects.

Audience

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps

Step 1: Open the Events Risk Matrix widget

Navigate to the dashboard that contains the Events Risk Matrix widget and locate the card with the 3x3 grid icon labelled "Events risk matrix".

Step 2: Check loading status and data availability

When the widget first appears, a loading skeleton is shown while event data is fetched; if no data is available or an error occurs, an alert explains the issue instead of the matrix.

Step 3: Review the overall events summary

At the top of the widget, review the total number of events included in the matrix and confirm the projects or filters being applied to the data.

Step 4: Interpret the likelihood and impact bands

Along the matrix axes, use the "Very Low" to "Very High" labels to understand how each event’s likelihood and total impact have been grouped into bands.

Step 5: Scan the colour-coded risk cells

Look across the grid of cells, using the green, yellow, orange and red shading to quickly identify low, medium, high and critical risk areas based on combined likelihood and impact.

Step 6: Review events in each risk cell

For any cell of interest, review the list or count of events placed there, including their references, titles, types and associated projects, to understand specific drivers of that risk level.

Step 7: Compare projects across the matrix

Use the project names shown on each event to see which projects contribute most to higher-risk cells and where risks are more evenly distributed or concentrated.
