Review project budget overview
Use the Budget Overview widget to understand total budget, current spend, remaining funds, and overall financial health by cost category.

Steps
Step 1: Open the dashboard with the Budget Overview widget
Navigate to the project dashboard where the Budget Overview widget is displayed, showing a summary of your total budget, amount spent, remaining budget, and overall budget health indicator.
Step 2: Review overall budget and health status
Check the top section of the widget to see your total budget, how much has been spent so far, how much remains, and the budget health badge indicating whether you are on track, at risk, or over budget.
Step 3: Examine variance and forecast at completion
Look at the variance figures to understand how far you are above or below the planned budget, and review the forecast at completion to see the projected total cost based on current spending trends.
Step 4: Analyse spend by cost category
Scroll through the list or chart of cost categories to compare planned versus actual spend for each category, using the coloured indicators and progress visuals to spot areas that are tracking well or overrunning.
Step 5: Monitor currency and refresh data if available
Confirm the currency shown in the widget matches your project settings and, if a refresh option is provided, use it to update the figures with the latest financial data from the underlying system.
