Review project budget overview
Use the Budget Overview widget to understand your total budget, current spend, remaining funds, and overall financial health for the project.

Steps
Step 1: Open the Budget Overview widget
Navigate to the financial area of your dashboard and locate the Budget Overview widget, which shows key budget figures such as total budget, spent amount, remaining budget, and any data loading indicators.

Step 2: Check total budget and current spend
Review the total budget value and the amount already spent, displayed with the project’s currency, to quickly understand overall financial scale and current expenditure.

Step 3: Assess remaining budget and variance
Look at the remaining budget, variance, and variance percentage to see how far you are over or under the planned budget, helping you gauge financial performance at a glance.

Step 4: Review budget health status
Note the budget health indicator, which flags whether the budget is on track, at risk, or over; use the associated icon and styling to quickly identify any issues that may require action.

Step 5: Examine cost categories
Scroll through the list or visual representation of cost categories to compare planned versus actual costs by category, using the colour coding to distinguish each category’s contribution.

Step 6: Review forecast at completion
Check the forecast at completion figure to understand the projected total cost based on current spending trends, and compare it against the original budget to anticipate potential overruns.

Step 7: Refresh the budget data
Use the refresh control on the widget to reload the latest financial data from the source system, ensuring that the totals, categories, and health indicators reflect the most up-to-date information.
