Review budget overview for your project
Use the Budget Overview widget to understand your total budget, current spend, remaining funds, budget health and key variances across cost categories.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Locate the Budget Overview widget on the dashboard
On your PlanOps dashboard, scroll to the financial section until you see the Budget Overview card, which highlights your total budget, amount spent, remaining budget, and overall budget health at the top.

Step 2: Check overall budget, spend and remaining balance
At the top of the widget, review the total budget, how much has been spent so far, and the remaining amount, all shown in your configured currency with compact notation for large values.

Step 3: Assess overall budget health status
Look at the budget health indicator, which shows an icon and label such as “On Track”, “At Risk”, or “Over Budget”, along with a coloured background and badge to quickly signal your current status.

Step 4: Review variance and forecast at completion
Examine the variance figures to see how much your actual costs differ from the plan, including the variance amount, variance percentage, and the forecast at completion to understand where spend is likely to land by the end of the project.

Step 5: Inspect spend by cost category
In the categories section, review each cost category’s planned and actual amounts, using the colour coding and any progress-style indicators to see which areas are over or under budget at a glance.

Step 6: Refresh the budget data
Use the refresh control on the widget (often shown as a circular arrow icon) to reload the latest financial data, ensuring that your totals, health status, variances and category breakdowns are all up to date.
