Review task deadlines with the Forward Look heatmap
Use the Forward Look deadline heatmap widget to see upcoming, due, and overdue tasks across projects at a glance.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Open the Forward Look deadline heatmap widget
From your dashboard, locate the Forward Look deadline heatmap card showing upcoming task deadlines and click into it if it is collapsed or in a minimised view.

Step 2: Check overall task deadline summary
At the top of the widget, review the total number of tasks, how many are overdue, due today, and due this week to understand current workload pressure.

Step 3: Scan the heatmap for busy and risky periods
Look across the calendar-style heatmap to identify days or weeks with a high concentration of tasks, paying special attention to overdue and urgent items highlighted by stronger colours.

Step 4: Navigate between time periods
Use the left and right arrow controls in the widget header to move backward or forward through the calendar so you can inspect deadlines in previous or upcoming periods.

Step 5: Inspect individual task details
Hover over or select a specific date cell in the heatmap to view a list of tasks due on that date, including title, status, priority, assignee, project, and whether they are overdue.

Step 6: Identify high-priority and overdue tasks
In the task details panel or tooltip, focus on items marked as high or urgent priority and those flagged as overdue so you can plan follow-up actions.

Step 7: Refresh the widget data
Click the refresh icon in the widget header to reload the latest task and deadline information from the system, ensuring you are working with up-to-date data.

Step 8: Review any loading or error messages
If the widget shows a loading skeleton or an error alert, wait for the data to finish loading or follow any error guidance before relying on the visualisation for decisions.
