Configure a dashboard widget

Use the widget configuration panel to control the data source, visualisation, refresh, and display options for a dashboard widget.

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps​

Step 1: Open the widget configuration panel​

In the dashboard, hover over the widget you want to change and select the settings icon to open the configuration panel.

Step 2: Review the widget overview​

At the top of the panel, confirm you are editing the correct widget by checking its name, type icon, and any brief description that is shown.

Step 3: Choose the data source​

In the data or source section, use the source dropdown to select where the widget should pull its data from, such as a specific register, database view, or project feed.

Step 4: Adjust register filters and fields​

If the widget uses a register, configure which fields, filters, and options apply so the widget only includes the records and columns relevant to your use case.

Step 5: Select the visualisation type​

In the visualisation area, choose how the data should be displayed, such as Metric Card, Chart, Table, List, Map, Calendar, Feed, Document Preview, AI Summary, or Gantt Segment.

Step 6: Configure chart and measure options​

For chart-based widgets, pick the chart type, measures, date buckets, aggregation type, and sort direction so that the chart highlights the trends you care about.

Step 7: Tweak layout and display options​

In the layout or display options section, update layout presets, visibility toggles, labels, and colours to match your dashboard design and make information easy to read.

Step 8: Set the auto-refresh interval​

In the refresh section, choose how often the widget should update its data, or select Never if the widget does not need to refresh automatically.

Step 9: Enable or disable notifications​

If available, use the notification controls to turn alerts on or off so that you are informed when key widget thresholds or conditions are met.

Step 10: Preview the widget output​

Review the live preview area to see how your selected data source, filters, and visualisation options will appear before you apply the changes.

Step 11: Save or cancel your changes​

When you are satisfied, select Save to apply your configuration to the widget, or select Cancel to close the panel without making any changes.
