Configure automatic form sequence numbers
Configure how new forms are automatically numbered, including prefixes, numbering style, and whether numbering is shared or per project.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Open the sequence configuration panel
In the form builder, open the settings or configuration area for the current form template and expand the sequence configuration panel to view the numbering options. If sequence numbers are currently disabled, toggle the main switch to enable automatic numbering using the default settings.

Step 2: Set the form number prefix
In the prefix field, enter the text you want to appear at the start of every new form number (for example, "FORM" or "PRJ"). The preview section will update to show how a new form number will look with your chosen prefix.

Step 3: Choose a numbering format preset
In the format section, choose one of the available presets, such as "5 digits", "4 digits", "3 digits", or "with slash". Each preset controls how many digits are used and whether a dash or slash is used between the prefix and the number. Check the preview to confirm the format meets your needs.

Step 4: Use a custom numbering pattern (optional)
If the presets do not match your requirements, switch to the custom pattern option and edit the format pattern directly. Use placeholders such as "{prefix}" and "{sequence:04d}" to define exactly how the sequence should appear, then review the generated example in the preview.

Step 5: Configure numbering per project (optional)
Enable the "Per project" option if you want each project to maintain its own independent sequence starting from 0001 (or your chosen digit length), so that numbers do not continue across different projects.

Step 6: Include project reference in the sequence (optional)
Turn on the "Include project reference" option if you want each form number to also contain the project reference value. Confirm in the preview that the project reference appears in the correct position within the generated form number.

Step 7: Review the preview and save your configuration
Wait for the preview to refresh, then review the example form number shown to ensure it matches your expectations. Once satisfied, close the panel or save your form template so the new sequence configuration is applied to future forms created from this template.
