Configure and interact with an individual form field

Configure how a single form field behaves, appears, and accepts user input, including drag-and-drop uploads and locked values.

Audience

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps​

Step 1: Review the field label and required status​

View the field label and check whether it is marked as required by the asterisk indicator so you know if a response is mandatory.

Step 2: Enter or review the field value​

Type directly into the field or review any pre-populated value that has been set for you, depending on the field configuration.

Step 3: Identify locked, pre-populated fields​

Look for the "Locked" indicator and tinted background to understand which values are fixed and cannot be edited, while still remaining readable.

Step 4: Use drag and drop to add files​

Drag files from your computer over the upload area to attach them to the field, using the visual highlight that appears on drag over.

Step 5: Drop files to upload them​

Release the mouse button while hovering over the upload area to drop your files, triggering the upload and attachment to the current field.

Step 6: Cancel dragging if you change your mind​

Move your cursor away from the upload area to leave the drag zone, which removes the drag-over highlight without uploading files.

Step 7: Click the custom upload area​

Select the upload area or custom button to open your file picker, allowing you to choose files if you prefer not to drag and drop.

Step 8: Confirm supported file types​

Check the helper text or hints around the field to see which file types and extensions are supported before you attach documents or images.
