Connect a SharePoint CDE

Set up and save a connection between your project and a Microsoft SharePoint Common Data Environment (CDE).

Audience

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps

Step 1: Open the SharePoint connection dialog

From the settings area, choose the option to connect a new CDE and select Microsoft SharePoint as the provider to open the connection dialog.

Open the SharePoint connection dialog

Step 2: Enter SharePoint tenant details

In the dialog, type your SharePoint Tenant ID in the Tenant ID field so the system knows which Microsoft 365 tenant to connect to.

Enter SharePoint tenant details

Step 3: Specify the SharePoint site

In the Site field, enter the full SharePoint site path (for example contoso.sharepoint.com:/sites/ProjectName) that will be used as the project CDE location.

Specify the SharePoint site

Step 4: Add the application client credentials

Enter the registered application Client ID and Client Secret so the system can authenticate securely with SharePoint on behalf of your project.

Add the application client credentials

Step 5: Save and test the new connection

Choose the option to save and test; the system creates the SharePoint connection and automatically tests the credentials, keeping the dialog open if the test fails so you can adjust the details.

Save and test the new connection

Step 6: Update details after a failed test

If the credential test fails, review and correct the Tenant ID, Site, Client ID or Client Secret in the same dialog and save again to update the existing connection rather than creating a duplicate.
