Edit a project template

Update the name, description and configuration of an existing project template, including its documents, reports, forms and custom fields.

Audience

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps

Step 1: Open the project template editor

From your settings or templates area, locate the project template you want to change and select the option to edit it; the Project Template edit modal opens with several tabs across the top.

Step 2: Update general template details

In the General tab, edit the template name and description fields to reflect how this template should be used, then review that the summary now matches your intended configuration.

Step 3: Manage template documents

Switch to the Documents tab to review the list of document templates linked to this project template; use the available controls to update document versions or remove documents that are no longer needed.

Step 4: Configure report blueprints

Open the Reports tab to see all report blueprints included in the template, adjust their configuration as required, and remove any reports you no longer wish to generate from this template.

Step 5: Review and adjust form templates

Go to the Forms tab to review the form templates associated with the project template and confirm that the available forms match the information you need to collect on each project.

Step 6: Manage custom fields and values

In the Fields tab, review custom field definitions and their current values for this template; remove any unnecessary custom fields and adjust values so that new projects created from this template inherit the correct defaults.

Step 7: Duplicate the template (optional)

If you want to base a new template on this one, enable the duplication option, enter a name and optional description for the duplicate, and confirm to create a new template without changing the original.

Step 8: Save and apply your changes

When you are satisfied with the updates, select the Save action in the modal; wait for the saving indicator to complete and then confirm that the modal closes and the template list reflects your updated configuration.
