Configure RAMS guidance and notes for subcontractors

Use the RAMS guidance control to review the standard checklist and add project-specific notes your subcontractors will see when uploading RAMS.

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps

Step 1: Open the RAMS guidance popover

Select the RAMS guidance icon or "What should a good RAMS include?" link next to the RAMS upload instructions to open the popover with the standard guidance.

Step 2: Review the standard RAMS guidance

Read through the plain-English RAMS guidance shown in the popover, which mirrors the RAMS auditor's checking criteria and covers what a good submission should include.

Step 3: Start editing the guidance and notes

Click the "Edit / add notes" action in the popover to open the editable version, which is pre-filled with either your current text or the standard guidance as a starting point.

Step 4: Add project-specific instructions

Update the text to include site-specific requirements, risks, and expectations so the subcontractor understands exactly what to include in their RAMS for this project.

Step 5: Reset to the standard guidance if needed

If your edits are no longer needed, use the reset option in the editor to discard your changes and restore the default standard RAMS guidance text.

Step 6: Save your guidance and notes

Select the save action in the editor to apply your changes, updating the instructions block so your edited text appears on the subcontractor's RAMS upload page.

Step 7: Cancel editing without saving

If you change your mind while editing, use the cancel option to close the editor and revert to the last saved version without updating the instructions shown to subcontractors.
