Manage document actions based on your access level

Adjust and understand which actions (Edit, Share, Delete) are available for each project document based on server-controlled permissions.

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps

Step 1: Open a document in the detail view

Navigate to your project and open a document to view its detail page, which shows the document content alongside its available actions.

Step 2: Review which actions are available

In the document detail toolbar, check whether Edit, Share, and Delete are visible so you can see what you are allowed to do with this document.

Step 3: Understand project member permissions

When you are a project member, confirm that you can see Edit and Share but not Delete, ensuring you can update and share the document without being able to remove it.

Step 4: Understand document creator permissions

When you are the document creator, verify that Edit, Share, and Delete are all available so you can fully manage the document, including removing it if required.

Step 5: Understand viewer-only access

When you have viewer-only access, check that Edit, Share, and Delete are hidden, confirming that you can read the document but cannot change, share, or remove it.

Step 6: Confirm controls still appear when your role is loading

If your project role is still being resolved, confirm that valid server permissions still show the correct controls and are not hidden while your role loads.
