Edit geometry overlays on a drawing

Use the geometry overlay editor to review and adjust polygons, polylines and counted points on an uploaded drawing.

Audience

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps

Step 1: Open the drawing with geometry overlays

Navigate to the drawing that has material schedule geometry attached and open it so the image and overlay editor are displayed together.

Step 2: Show or hide geometry overlays

Use the geometry visibility toggle to show the polygons, polylines and counted points over the drawing, or hide them to view the image alone.

Step 3: Review polygons, polylines and points

Inspect each polygon outline, line measurement and counted point rendered in the normalised image space to confirm they align with the drawing.

Step 4: Select a geometry vertex for editing

Click on a polygon or polyline vertex to make it active so you can adjust its position without changing the underlying geometry type.

Step 5: Nudge a vertex using the keyboard

With a vertex selected, use the keyboard arrow keys to nudge it; the editor automatically clamps movements so the point stays within the drawing area.

Step 6: Add a new point to refine the shape

Use the add-point control near a selected edge to insert a midpoint, increasing the number of vertices so you can refine the polygon or polyline shape.

Step 7: Remove an unnecessary point

Select a redundant vertex and use the remove-point control to simplify the shape while the editor enforces the minimum number of points required.

Step 8: Confirm updated geometry for schedule items

After editing, review the adjusted shapes and points, then save your changes so the linked material schedule items use the updated geometry.
