Manage task dependencies and linked documents

Use the Task Connections section to manage dependencies between tasks and link supporting documents so work stays coordinated.

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps

Step 1: Open the Task Connections section

From the task detail view, scroll to the Task Connections area to see dependencies, linked documents and child tasks grouped in separate sections.

Step 2: Review existing task dependencies

In the Dependencies section, review the list of tasks this task depends on, including their titles and status chips, and note any unresolved items or loading indicators.

Step 3: Add a new dependency

Select the option to add a dependency to open the Task Dependency Picker, search or browse for the task that must be completed first, and confirm to link it as a dependency.

Step 4: Remove an existing dependency

In the Dependencies list, choose the remove action (X icon) next to a linked task to delete it as a dependency, then confirm the change if prompted.

Step 5: Navigate to a dependent task

Click a task name or external link icon in the Dependencies list to open that task’s detail page in the same workspace for deeper review.

Step 6: Review and manage linked documents

In the Linked documents section, review any existing files or documents associated with the task, and use the controls provided to add, remove or update linked document references.

Step 7: Open a linked document

Click a document entry or its external link icon in the Linked documents section to open the full document in a new view or tab.

If a legacy banner appears, read the information about older document links that have been carried over, and dismiss the banner when you have reviewed it.

Step 9: Collapse or expand sections

Use the section headers to collapse or expand the Dependencies, Documents and Children sections to focus on the information that is most relevant.
