Adjust timeline dependency arrows between tasks
Use the timeline view to understand and adjust visual dependency arrows between tasks so you can see how schedule changes affect related work.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Locate dependent tasks on the timeline
In the project timeline, identify the tasks that are linked together with a dependency arrow connecting the end of one task bar to the start of another.

Step 2: Review the direction of the dependency
Check that the arrow points from the predecessor task to the successor task so you can clearly see which task must finish before the next one can begin.

Step 3: Inspect overlapping or tight dependencies
Look for arrows where the successor task starts immediately after or overlaps the predecessor, helping you spot schedule risks or unrealistic handover times.

Step 4: Assess impact of shifting a task
When you move a task bar on the timeline, watch how its dependency arrow updates position so you can understand the effect on the connected task.

Step 5: Validate the overall dependency chain
Scan along the sequence of arrows to confirm that the order of tasks matches your delivery plan and that there are no missing or incorrect links.
