Manage tasks in a board column
Use a board column to view, organise, and move tasks between workflow stages using drag and drop or keyboard controls.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Review tasks in a status column
Open the task board and locate the column for the status you want to review (for example, "To do", "In progress", or "Done"). All tasks with that status are listed as individual cards in the column.

Step 2: Check work-in-progress limits
Look at the column header to see if a work-in-progress (WIP) limit is set. If the number of task cards exceeds the WIP limit, the column visually highlights that the limit has been exceeded so you can decide whether to move or pause work.

Step 3: Open a task from the column
Click any task card in the column to open its details. This lets you review more information, update the task, or take further actions outside the board view.

Step 4: Move a task by dragging to another column
Click and hold a task card to start dragging it, then move it over another status column until the column highlights to show it can accept the task. Release the mouse to drop the task, which updates its status to match the new column.

Step 5: Confirm the drop target while dragging
While you drag a task across the board, observe how each column highlights when your cursor enters it and returns to normal when you leave. This helps you confirm exactly where the task will be dropped.

Step 6: Move a task using keyboard controls
When a task card is focused, use the provided keyboard shortcut to move it to the previous or next column. The task status is updated automatically, matching the new column, and any available hints show you the names of adjacent columns.

Step 7: Adjust column configuration
Use the column configuration controls to collapse, hide, or set a WIP limit for the column. Changes you make to the configuration update how the column appears and behaves on the board.
