View task dependencies on the Gantt chart

Use visual connector arrows on the Gantt chart to understand which tasks depend on each other and how work is sequenced.

Steps​

Step 1: Open the programme Gantt chart​

Navigate to the programme or project schedule view and open the Gantt chart so that tasks are displayed as horizontal bars on a timeline.

Step 2: Hover over a task to highlight its dependency chain​

Move your cursor over a task bar to activate its dependency chain; the system highlights connector arrows for that task and its related predecessors or successors.

Follow the highlighted elbow-shaped arrows, which run from the right edge of a predecessor task to the left edge of its dependent task, to see finish-to-start relationships between tasks.

Step 4: Compare positions of connected tasks on the timeline​

Use the horizontal positions of the connected bars and arrows to understand whether a predecessor finishes before its dependent starts, and to spot any tasks that might constrain your schedule.

Step 5: Move to a different task to inspect another chain​

Hover over another task bar to switch the active chain and view a different set of highlighted connectors without changing the underlying schedule.
