View and understand Gantt task bars

Use the Gantt chart task bars to understand task timing, status, dependencies, and phase information within your programme.

Steps

Step 1: Open the programme Gantt view

Navigate to the programme view that displays the Gantt chart so you can see all tasks laid out on a timeline.

Step 2: Locate a specific task bar on the timeline

Find the horizontal bar that represents your task, positioned between the overall Gantt start and end dates based on the task schedule.

Step 3: Review task status and completion

Look at the task's colour and status icon to see whether it is on track, overdue, on hold, or cancelled, and check its completion percentage where shown.

Use the phase colour and any highlighted related bars to understand which phase the task belongs to and how it is linked to predecessors and dependent tasks.

Step 5: Hover or click to focus on a task

Move your cursor over or click the task bar to highlight it, reveal any exception chips, and focus on tasks that require attention.
