Mark a programme task as complete
Record the actual completion date for a programme task, review any schedule slippage, and optionally propagate delays to dependent tasks.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Open the Complete task dialog
In the programme view, select the task you have finished and click the option to mark it as complete. The Complete task dialog opens, showing the task details and planned end date.

Step 2: Enter the actual completion date
In the Actual completion date field, enter the date the task was actually finished. This date is required and is used to calculate any schedule slippage against the planned end date.

Step 3: Review slippage and affected tasks
After entering the date, review any slippage information displayed, including the number of days delayed and how many successor tasks may be affected if the completion is later than planned.

Step 4: Choose whether to propagate slippage
Use the propagate slippage option to decide whether any delay to this task should be pushed through to its successor tasks, updating their planned dates accordingly.

Step 5: Add notes about the completion
In the Notes field, enter any relevant context about why the actual completion date differs from the plan or other information that will help stakeholders understand the change.

Step 6: Submit the completion
Click the Complete or Save button to submit the form. The task is marked as complete, any chosen slippage updates are applied, and the dialog closes unless an error message prompts you to correct the form.
