Use universal search to find items across your projects

Use the universal search modal to quickly find documents, tasks, RFIs, people, meetings and other items across your projects, then open them directly.

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps

Step 1: Open the universal search modal

Press the keyboard shortcut or click the search icon in the header to open the search modal, which appears centred on the screen with a search bar and recent or suggested results.

Step 2: Enter a search term

Click into the search field and start typing a keyword, document name, task title, person’s name or other relevant phrase; matching results begin to appear below as you type.

Step 3: Filter results by item type

Use the filter dropdown or checkboxes to select which types of items to include, such as Documents, Tasks, Projects, People, RFIs or Meetings, so the results list only shows the categories you care about.

Step 4: Review search results

Scan the result cards, which show an icon and label for the item type, the item title and highlighted snippets of matching text, along with how recently each item was updated.

Step 5: Open an item from the results

Click a result card or use the arrow keys and Enter to open the selected item; you are taken straight to the relevant page, such as a document view, task workspace item or project dashboard.

Step 6: Close the search modal

If you do not want to open any result, close the modal by clicking the X icon, clicking outside the modal, or pressing Escape to return to your previous screen.
