Filter items using the filter chip bar

Use the filter chip bar to switch between preset filters and saved views while seeing how many items match each filter.

Steps​

Step 1: Open the page with the filter chip bar​

Navigate to the page that shows your list of items; the filter chip bar appears above the list as a row of selectable chips.

Step 2: Review available presets and their counts​

Look at each preset chip (such as All, Overdue, or Draft) and note the number badge on each chip, which shows how many items match that filter; presets without a reliable count will display just the label without a number.

Step 3: Select a preset filter​

Click a preset chip to make it active; the chip is marked as the current selection for assistive technologies and the list below updates to show only matching items.

Step 4: Identify the active filter​

Confirm which filter is currently applied by checking which chip appears selected and is announced as the current option by screen readers, ensuring you always know which view you are working in.

Step 5: Use the filter bar with assistive technologies​

When using a screen reader, navigate to the named filter group (for example "Filter packages") and move between chips using standard button or tab navigation to change the current filter.

Step 6: Switch between presets and saved views​

If saved views are available, find them after the preset chips and click a saved view chip to apply its configured filters, using it alongside presets to move quickly between common views.
