Understand error messages in dialogs
Learn how error banners appear inside dialogs so you can recognise failures and guide your team on next steps.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Notice the error banner inside the dialog
When an action in a dialog fails, an error banner appears near the bottom of the dialog, above the buttons, with a red warning icon and background to draw your attention.

Step 2: Read the main error message
Review the plain-English title text in the banner, which explains what went wrong in terms your team can understand, rather than using technical HTTP or API wording.

Step 3: Review additional error details
If a secondary line of detail is shown, read it to understand any extra context from the system that may clarify the reason for the failure.

Step 4: Follow the suggested recovery action
Use the recovery option shown in the banner, such as clicking a link, pressing a button, or following written guidance like contacting a project administrator.

Step 5: Confirm the dialog remains in focus
Stay within the dialog while resolving the issue, knowing that assistive technology users are automatically focused on the error banner so they do not miss the failure or its guidance.
