Use the page header to understand the current page and access key actions such as adding items or opening additional tools.

Audience

Steps

Step 1: View the page title and subtitle

Open the page and check the large heading to confirm where you are, then read the subtitle beneath it to see key context such as the number of items on the page.

Step 2: Use the primary action button

Select the main action button to perform the most important task for this page, such as adding a new item; if it opens a form or workflow, follow the prompts to complete the action.

Use the primary action button

When the primary action is shown as a link, select it to open the related page (for example, to create a new record) in the same browser tab.

Follow links from the primary action

Step 4: Wait while a primary action is running

When an action is in progress, watch for the busy label on the primary button and wait until it is no longer disabled before trying to run it again.

Step 5: Work on pages without actions

On some pages the header only shows the title and subtitle; in this case, review the header for context and use the main page content or navigation to continue your work.
