Review permit summary before loading
Review the key details of a permit-to-load and confirm the design category and sign-off chain before proceeding.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Open the permit summary screen
Navigate to the permit-to-load wizard until the summary screen appears, showing the linked temporary works (TW) item and overall permit details.

Step 2: Check the associated TW item details
Review the displayed TW item information, including the TW reference, description and formatted TW type, to confirm you are looking at the correct piece of temporary works.

Step 3: Confirm the permit type
Look at the permit type field, which labels the permit as "Permit to load", "Permit to modify", "Permit to strike" or "Permit to dismantle", and ensure it matches the work you intend to carry out.

Step 4: Verify the BS 5975 design-check category
Check the BS 5975 category shown (for example "CAT 0: TWC sign-off only" or "CAT 2: Designer + Independent checker + TWC + TWS") and ensure the category is appropriate for the complexity and risk of the temporary works.

Step 5: Review the sign-off chain
Review the sign-off chain preview, confirming each required role (Designer, Independent checker, Temporary works coordinator, Temporary works supervisor) and any dates or statuses shown so you can see which signatures are already complete and who is expected to sign next.

Step 6: Confirm all information is complete
Look for any fields marked as not set or left blank, and cross-check against your project information so that all essential permit and TW details are captured correctly before moving on.

Step 7: Continue to the next step of the wizard
When you are satisfied that the permit type, TW item, design-check category and sign-off chain are correct, select the Continue button to proceed to the next step of the permit-to-load process.
