Edit temporary works details

Use the Temporary Works edit wizard to review and update the details of an existing temporary works item without creating a new record.

Steps

Step 1: Open the Temporary Works edit wizard

From your project’s Temporary Works list, locate the item you want to update and open the edit wizard so its current details are pre-populated.

Step 2: Review the current temporary works information

Check the pre-filled reference, description, location, status, category, design check details and other metadata to confirm you are editing the correct item.

Step 3: Update editable fields

Adjust any allowed fields, such as description, location, inspection frequency, metadata or planned strike date, ensuring the changes accurately reflect the current design and site conditions.

Step 4: Understand read-only status for struck or cancelled works

If the temporary works item has been struck or cancelled, review the read-only notice shown in the wizard and confirm that fields cannot be modified for this status.

Step 5: Save your changes

When you are satisfied with your edits, save the temporary works record so the existing item is updated rather than creating a new one.

Step 6: Resume an in-progress edit session

If you previously closed the wizard mid-edit, reopen the same temporary works item to automatically restore your draft from the saved browser session for that specific record.
