Preview form fields while building a form
Use the Field Preview to see how individual form fields will look and behave while you configure a form in the builder.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Open the form builder
Navigate to the form builder in your project so you can add or configure fields in your form layout.
Step 2: Select or add a form field
Add a new field (such as a section, checkbox, select, radio group, text area, file upload or signature) or select an existing one to view its preview on the canvas.
Step 3: Review field labels and required indicators
Check that each field label appears as expected; required fields will automatically show an asterisk (*) after the label so you can confirm which responses will be mandatory.
Step 4: Check field-specific layouts
For each field type, review how it appears to respondents—sections appear as headings, checkboxes display with tick boxes, select and multi-select fields show as dropdowns, radio fields show individual options, text areas show a multi-line input box, file upload fields show an upload control, and signature fields render a signature area.
Step 5: Verify placeholder text and options
Confirm that any placeholder text and option lists (for select and radio fields) show correctly, including which options are disabled and cannot be selected by respondents.
Step 6: Confirm styling and alignment
Ensure fonts, spacing, borders and colours in the preview meet your design expectations before finalising the form.
