Record actual impacts for an event

Use the Materialise Event dialog to log when an event occurred, add detailed financial impacts, and confirm the final realised outcome.

Steps

Step 1: Open the Materialise Event dialog

Open the event and select the option to materialise it, which displays a dialog where you can record when the event actually occurred and its realised impacts.

Step 2: Set the event occurrence date

In the Occurred on field at the top of the dialog, confirm or change the default date (today) to the actual date the event took place.

Step 3: Add notes about the event

In the Notes box, enter any contextual information or explanation about what happened and how it affected the project.

Step 4: Add a new impact line

Select the button to add an impact, which creates a new line where you can record a specific realised impact for this event.

Step 5: Choose the impact category

For each impact line, use the Category dropdown to select the most appropriate impact type, such as direct cost or another configured category.

Step 6: Enter the impact amount

In the Amount field, enter the monetary value of the impact using the displayed currency, ensuring the figure reflects the actual realised cost or saving.

Step 7: Describe the impact

In the Description field on each line, briefly explain what the impact relates to so others can understand the financial entry later.

Step 8: Set confidence for each impact

Use the Confidence dropdown to indicate how certain you are about each recorded amount, helping stakeholders interpret the reliability of the figures.

Step 9: Review total actual impact

Check the automatically calculated total impact at the bottom of the list to confirm that all amounts entered are complete and accurate.

Step 10: Remove any incorrect impact lines

If you add a line by mistake or no longer need it, use the delete option on that row to remove it from the list before submitting.

Step 11: Submit the materialised event

When you are satisfied with the date, notes, and impact lines, select the submit button to save the materialised event; a loading indicator appears while the system validates and stores your changes.

Step 12: Confirm the event has been materialised

After a successful save, check that the dialog closes, a confirmation toast appears, and the event view updates to show the recorded actual impacts.
