Configure a register layout from catalogue fields
Use the register builder dialog to configure how records are organised and displayed using fields from a predefined catalogue.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Open the register builder dialog
From your workspace, open the register builder dialog for the relevant register so you can start configuring its layout and behaviour.

Step 2: Choose the data source and item type
In the builder, confirm or select the data source (for example workspace items or documents) and pick the item type you want the register to use.

Step 3: Review available catalogue fields
Browse the field catalogue to see all available columns, including defaults such as reference, title, severity and due date.

Step 4: Select and arrange register columns
Add or remove fields from your register and reorder the columns so the most important information appears first.

Step 5: Configure grouping and other layout options
Set grouping options such as default group by severity and adjust any additional layout settings offered by the builder.

Step 6: Preview register blocks
Use the preview option to generate a live preview of the current block or section so you can confirm the layout before saving.

Step 7: Save the register definition
Save your configuration as a register definition so it can be reused and updated in future without rebuilding from scratch.

Step 8: Generate a register from the definition
Generate the actual register from your saved definition and return to the parent screen where the new layout is available to use.
