Configure a register layout from catalogue fields

Use the register builder dialog to configure how records are organised and displayed using fields from a predefined catalogue.

Steps

Step 1: Open the register builder dialog

From your workspace, open the register builder dialog for the relevant register so you can start configuring its layout and behaviour.

Step 2: Choose the data source and item type

In the builder, confirm or select the data source (for example workspace items or documents) and pick the item type you want the register to use.

Step 3: Review available catalogue fields

Browse the field catalogue to see all available columns, including defaults such as reference, title, severity and due date.

Step 4: Select and arrange register columns

Add or remove fields from your register and reorder the columns so the most important information appears first.

Step 5: Configure grouping and other layout options

Set grouping options such as default group by severity and adjust any additional layout settings offered by the builder.

Step 6: Preview register blocks

Use the preview option to generate a live preview of the current block or section so you can confirm the layout before saving.

Step 7: Save the register definition

Save your configuration as a register definition so it can be reused and updated in future without rebuilding from scratch.

Step 8: Generate a register from the definition

Generate the actual register from your saved definition and return to the parent screen where the new layout is available to use.
