Run Building Control Compliance Analysis

Use the Building Control Compliance Analysis agent to automatically review up to 10 project documents for building control and regulatory compliance issues. The AI generates a comprehensive compliance report with identified risks, regulatory impacts, and prioritised actions.

This guide is designed for project-manager.

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to Agents and open Building Control Compliance agent

From the sidebar, click Agents to access the AI agents management area. Find "Building Control Document Compliance Analysis" in the Compliance category and click to open its configuration panel. You'll see the input form with document selection and analysis settings.

Navigate to Agents and open Building Control Compliance agent

tip

The agent analyzes up to 10 documents for regulatory compliance issues.

Step 2: Configure document selection method

Choose how to provide documents. Option A: Auto-select from project documents (optionally filtered by type and upload date). Option B: Manually select specific documents. Option C: Upload a supporting document (PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown). You can combine methods. Set maximum documents to analyse (1-10, default 5).

Configure document selection method

tip

Auto-selection sorts by most recent. Manual selection lets you choose specific documents for analysis.

Step 3: Set document type filters and review period

If auto-selecting, optionally filter by document type (Drawings, Specifications, Risk Assessments, Certificates, etc.). Optionally set a date range to include only documents uploaded within that timeframe. This is useful for focusing on recent design iterations. Leave filters blank to include all documents.

Set document type filters and review period

tip

Recommended types: Drawings, Specifications, Risk Assessments. Date filters help focus on recent changes.

Step 4: Select regulations and analysis focus areas

Choose which building regulations to emphasize: Part A (Structure), Part B (Fire Safety), Part K (Fall Protection), Part L (Energy), Part M (Access), Environmental, or Other. Part B is pre-selected. Also select analysis focus: Structural, Fire Safety, Accessibility, Environmental, Buildability, or Quality Control. Multiple selections are supported.

Select regulations and analysis focus areas

tip

Regulation selection drives the compliance framework. Analysis focus determines what the AI emphasizes.

Step 5: Add project context and instructions

Optionally provide additional instructions or project-specific context. Examples: "Emphasize fire compartmentation at Level 03", "Client requires LEED", "Known structural concerns with east wing". This helps the AI focus on project-specific risks. This field is optional but highly recommended for focused analysis.

Add project context and instructions

tip

Project context improves analysis relevance. Be specific about known risks or requirements.

Step 6: Execute the agent and monitor progress

Click Run Agent or Execute to start the analysis. The agent retrieves selected documents, invokes the AI Gateway with GPT-5.1 to analyse compliance, generates a report, and creates a dashboard summary. Progress is displayed during execution. Typically completes in 2-5 minutes.

Execute the agent and monitor progress

tip

Processing time depends on document count and complexity. 5 documents typically takes 2-3 minutes.

Step 7: Review the compliance analysis results

Once complete, results display in the task output panel and dashboard summary. The full analysis includes: Executive summary of compliance status, detailed findings per document with risk ratings, repeated issues across documents, urgent actions (life safety, structure, fire), action plan by priority and stakeholder, and residual risks. Each finding links to the source document.

Review the compliance analysis results

tip

Results are structured for easy stakeholder communication. Links allow quick reference to source documents.

Step 8: Access the generated compliance report

The agent automatically creates a persistent compliance report in your project's Reports section under Quality category with today's date and timestamp. The report contains the full AI analysis, all analyzed documents with links, and can be downloaded, shared, or exported for distribution to architects, contractors, and clients.

Access the generated compliance report

tip

Reports are archived in the project for audit trail and future compliance reference.

Step 9: Use findings for corrective actions

Review the identified compliance issues and action plan. Distribute the report to relevant stakeholders (designer, contractor, client) based on their assigned actions. Track completion of recommended actions in the project. Use the report as evidence of compliance review for building control submissions.

Use findings for corrective actions

tip

The action plan is grouped by priority (urgent, medium, low) and stakeholder responsibility.

Step 10: Archive and reference for future reviews

Save the compliance report for audit and compliance documentation. Reference previous analyses when reviewing updated documents or design iterations. Run the agent again when significant changes occur or at project milestones to track compliance status evolution.

Archive and reference for future reviews

tip

Building control compliance is iterative. Repeat analysis after major design changes or at phase gates.
