Configure when a workflow runs
Use this step to choose how and when the workflow should start, such as on a schedule, when an event occurs, or manually from the dashboard.
This guide is designed for project manager.
Steps
Step 1: Open the workflow trigger configuration step
Navigate to the workflow configuration and open the step labelled “When should this workflow run?” to see the available trigger options for this template.

Step 2: Review the available trigger types
Check which trigger options are available for this workflow (for example, “On a schedule”, “When something happens”, or “Manually”), as determined by the workflow template.

Step 3: Select one or more trigger types
Click on a trigger option to select it; you must keep at least one trigger selected, and you can enable multiple triggers if you want the workflow to start in more than one way.

Step 4: Preview how scheduled runs will behave
If you select “On a schedule”, review the schedule preview text to understand that you will configure the specific days and times in the next step and that runs will occur automatically.

Step 5: Preview how event-driven runs will behave
If you select “When something happens”, review the event-driven preview to confirm that the workflow will start automatically when the defined event (such as a document upload) occurs.

Step 6: Preview how manual runs will behave
If you select “Manually”, note from the preview that you or your team will be able to start the workflow on demand from the Active Workflows dashboard using a “Run Now” action.

Step 7: Finalise trigger choices and proceed
Confirm that the combination of selected triggers matches how you want the workflow to start, then move on to the next configuration step where you will set any detailed schedules or event conditions.
