Sign in on site using phone and PIN

Allow field operatives to sign in at the gate using a normalised phone number and secure PIN, even with poor connectivity.

Audience

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps​

Step 1: Enter phone number​

Ask the operative to enter their mobile number in the phone field; the system will automatically normalise local formats like 07… into the correct international format.

Step 2: Enter PIN​

Have the operative type their 6‑digit PIN into the PIN field; the app will coerce the input into the correct format and mask it for privacy.

Step 3: Submit details​

Select the Continue button to attempt sign‑in; the app sends the phone and PIN to the server and waits for a response.

Step 4: Review sign‑in result​

If the details are valid, the operative is signed in to continue with their task (for example, signing a permit); if not, the server’s reason is shown in plain language they can act on.

Step 5: Handle rate limits and retries​

If too many attempts are made, the app displays specific 429 messaging to explain that they must wait before trying again, helping avoid lockouts at the gate.

Step 6: Use welcome‑back lookup​

On repeated use, the debounced welcome‑back lookup helps confirm returning operatives quickly, reducing friction at busy site gates.
