Enter text into a form field

Use a standard text input field to enter information into forms, such as names, titles, or short descriptions.

Audience

This guide is designed for project manager.

Steps

Step 1: Locate the text field

Navigate to the form and identify the text field you need to complete, shown as a white box with a subtle green border and grey italic placeholder text.

Step 2: Click inside the field

Click once inside the text field to place the cursor there; the field becomes highlighted with an orange focus ring to show it is active.

Step 3: Type your text

Use your keyboard to type the required information, such as a project name or reference; the text appears in the field as you type.

Step 4: Review what you have entered

Check the text in the field for accuracy and completeness, ensuring it matches any guidance shown in the placeholder or nearby labels.

Step 5: Move to the next field or submit

Press Tab to move to the next field or use your mouse to click elsewhere; if the field is disabled it will appear faded and cannot be edited.
